Classroom Procedures
Please be on time for class & get started. "First Ten" or "DO NOW" writing activities.
●Classes will usually be group instruction & one or two station rotations.
1) student application - computers
2) independent reading & responding
3) teacher led small group learning
●Students are expected to stay in assigned rotation focused on that learning activity.
Code of Conduct
Check out JET PRIDE posters in the hallway for behaviors expected in each area of the school.
Most of all choose KINDNESS!
· Students are expected to abide by the Virginia Beach City Public Schools Student Code of Conduct.
Students will speak in a moderate voice that is respectful to their teacher, peers & the academic setting.
(*Please refer to Code of Conduct for behaviors that result in an automatic written referral.)

Classroom Rules
Evaluation/Grading Students will receive weekly grades:
at each progress and grading period. “P” does not mean a student is meeting grade level standards and is ready to exit READ 180. It does mean that the student is making progress and moving towards grade level reading. READ 180 is a yearlong elective class.
Seventh and eighth graders may exit at the semester if they have met their expected growth goals.

- ATTITUDE cooperate, be positive and supportive, give your best effort - show your JET PRIDE
- RESPECT OTHERS treat others as you would like to be treated (no posturing or goofing around) BE KIND
- FOLLOW DIRECTIONS stay on task in your assigned rotation then rotate quickly when requested
- INSIDE/MODERATE VOICE loud & argumentative speech is disruptive to the learning environment and will not be allowed.
- Restroom breaks - during small groups (not during whole group)
- RED zone for cell phones, but students may bring tablets, book readers, or school supplied devices for Independent Reading.

- whole & group learning 40%.

Materials & Homework
- Students need to bring their CHROME book to class everyday!
- they may use their own earbuds or headsets, but NO air pods
- pen or pencil to class every day
- consider donating a box of tissues
- student "REAL" books stay in the classroom (workbook students will write in daily)
- HOMEWORK - read for 20 to 30 minutes (homework from another class or your choice)
- HOMEWORK - not graded
- Cell phones are supposed to be left in student's lockers - students are not allowed to use cell phones in class
